Happy Sunday guys! This post is something I’ve been thinking about for quite sometime now and well, let’s see if it’ll make as much sense in black and white as it does in my head. Let’s get to reading then, shall we?
Imagine on the last day, God just comes out and says the Sabbath was supposed to be a Friday instead and it really hurt Him that we didn’t keep any of it Holy. Even Sunday that was supposed to make up for that, wasn’t kept so Holy anyway. Just 5 services and that was it. The rest of the day was for whatever.
The thought alone is scary right? What if all this is being done wrong? Maybe our worship is skewed or perhaps we’re not really focusing on what’s important like maybe healthcare and we’re spending time at parks, praying. Or perhaps we’re spending too much time praying and that’s not what God wants.
Imagine at the end of all this, God comes up and says, “Hey listen guys, this is all a joke-an experiment. Let’s all go back to the garden. Heck, Adam’s not even dead, he’s still trimming hedges at Eden.”
That just goes to show how helpless we are. How wrong we may or may not be. That goes to stamp the need for a personal relationship with God. You need to know Him for yourself. Yes be selfish with that. But here’s the catch, when you do, tell the world about what goodness God has brought to your life and guide them to develop that personal relationship with God. That’s just it right?
In any case, as it happens that we all follow a certain pattern and try to harmonize our worship, making it more of a ritual than a spiritual exercise, we have come to understand just how important Grace is.
I mean just look at all the different varieties in our Christian walk. All the beliefs, which frankly, I think is a result of us applying our human understanding to everything. We want to understand things because it gives us a certain control. And because of this inherent desire, we’ve created for ourselves things that we think will help with our worship.
Here’s the thing though, no matter what we do, how much we try, we’ll always be inadequate. Not in a bad sense of the word but to prove basically that we can’t make it on our own and that Grace is the only thing keeping us.
Try to put your mind to it and it makes iota of sense because we’re talking spirituality not literature. And that human factor is always gonna be lacking. God in His infinite wisdom provided Grace.
So when things are going way out of hand and you can’t seem to put two and two together, take a deep breath, walk by faith and not by sight. And as much as you’ll like to brush this off as cliché, just think on it, one more time. Because the effect of Grace is that, even in our inadequacy, we’re made righteous in Christ Jesus. It doesn’t matter whether you’re black or brown, you need to develop that personal relationship and get understanding while you’re at it.
Just so you know, what I’m trying to say in addition to all this long talk is that, it’s beautiful when we come together and sing songs and offer the fruit of our lips. But at the end of the day, it’s what you have on the personal level that counts. And you’ll be tempted to push your personal biases and beliefs on someone else but I’m pleading that we give each other room to grow and support ourselves in prayer.
Because Grace is for us all.
Thanks for making it thus far. Let’s meet in the comment section then, shall we?
